How to Organise a Small Wardrobe

We appreciate and acknowledge not everyone has the luxury of having a walk in wardrobe or huge wardrobe space, so this post is mainly dedicated to those who have an small/average wardrobe space and not entirely sure as to how they can either fit everything in or make space within their wardrobe. We want you to know there are many aspects of our previous articles when it comes to managing your wardrobe that you can take away and apply it to your wardrobe. There will be a lot more emphasis around wardrobe storage as this will help you create space and use it accordingly.

  1. How can I maximise my space?

You can maximise your space in your wardrobe by investing in storage boxes for your accessories and/or clothing that needs to be folded; using slimmer hangers and creating division in regards to arranging your wardrobe appropriately from hanging to folding to shoes and accessories.

  2. I don’t have enough hanging space - what now?

If you have not read our post on managing your wardrobe yet, within that post we best advice clients to use slim velvet hangers. The reason being is because this will also help you maximise your hanging space in your wardrobe. Furthermore, what we also best advice is being more selective in what needs to be hung and what doesn’t need to be hung. This will save you a lot of space especially if the design of your wardrobe has more folding space than hanging space.

  3. Where should I best store my shoes?

Normally we would best advice you keep your shoes separate from your clothes, and not in boxes, however in this circumstances if you wish to not do so yet, we would advice you keep your shoes in their original boxes and to stack them in your wardrobe. This will help to keep your wardrobe nice and tidy. Alternatively feel free to either invest in a shoe hanging rail to attach within the wardrobe or shoe storage boxes or a book case used as shoe display which could be placed up by the wardrobe. If you have no space for the two suggestions, you can stick with stacking the boxes within your wardrobe.

  4. What organised system should I use?

The organisation system you can use is one that you can refer to from one of our previous article posts - Intro: Managing Your Wardrobe - click here.

  5. What wardrobe hacks should I keep in mind?

We recommend that you keep the following wardrobe hacks in mind which are:

    • Quarterly detoxing your wardrobe or as some may know it as Spring Cleaning.

    • Make use of the top of your wardrobe especially with your storage boxes or bags - feel free to also categorise them with labels.

    • Wardrobe dividers for your folded clothing whether that is in the wardrobe or your dressing table - we emphasise to take advantage of your dressing table space if you do have one, and if not it will be great to invest in one.

    • Store shoes (if not in the box) heel to toe (as pairs) this will amount in you having extra space to perhaps display all your shoes.

We have only stated these main four points to bear in mind because we want your wardrobe to always look aesthetically pleasing to you and fresh at all times.
